Recovery Rub $15/1oz $30/2oz

Recovery Rub for sore muscle and joints

Some herbs to bring blood to the affected area (not too hot) and some to cool the area (not too icy),  Upon application you should feel the heat from the capsaicin but nothing uncomfortable.  Our formula is subtle enough to use throughout the day without smelling like a camphor bomb.    Apply topically frequently to chronic areas for a few days.  After a round of treatment, use as a maintenance plan.  Immediate relief is expected but because it is promoting cell division for healing, think of it as a treatment plan rather than an "as needed" option.

***WARNING between the comfrey and the cayenne in this formula, it could be irritating to sensitive skin or wounds.  Make sure to thoroughly was hands after application.  Pepper oils are no joke.

Our blend is comprised of pure organic olive oil infused with our comfrey, turmeric, cayenne and peppermint essential oil.

Store in cool, dark place.

Comfrey's Noted Healing Abilities

Commonly known as "bone-knit" this plant has been healing major injuries to scraps and bruises for thousands of years.

The primary active constituents of comfrey leaf are allantoin (which accelerates cell regeneration) and rosmarinic acid (which reduces inflammation).

  • Joint & Muscle Pain: Topically applied comfrey creams are clinically shown to ease pain, stiffness, and swelling associated with osteoarthritis and lower back pain.
  • Sports Injuries: It is commonly used to speed up the recovery of minor sprains, strains, contusions, and muscle aches
  • Tissue Repair: Traditionally applied to bruises, it supports the healing process of connective tissues and bones.
  • Skin Health: The mucilage in comfrey moisturizes and soothes dry, irritated skin. It is also formulated into creams and salves for minor abrasions, sunburns, and superficial scratches.

Turmeric Noted Healing Abilities

Topical application of turmeric, driven by its active compound curcumin, provides powerful anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant benefits. It helps soothe acne and eczema, fades hyperpigmentation, reduces visible signs of aging like fine lines, and promotes faster wound healing.

Key Skin Benefits

  • Fights Acne: Its antibacterial and antiseptic properties help neutralize acne-causing bacteria, while its anti-inflammatory effects reduce redness and calm inflamed pores.
  • Reduces Hyperpigmentation & Dark Circles: Turmeric naturally inhibits melanin production. Regular application can brighten dull skin, fade acne scars, and minimize under-eye dark circles.
  • Anti-Aging Properties: Antioxidants in curcumin neutralize free radicals caused by sun exposure and pollution, which protects against photoaging and boosts collagen.
  • Soothes Inflammatory Conditions: It is used in complementary dermatology to help manage symptoms of eczema and psoriasis by controlling skin dryness and flare-ups.

Cayenne Noted Healing Abilities

Topical application of cayenne pepper provides primary health benefits through capsaicin, its active compound, which serves as a powerful local analgesic to reduce muscle, joint, and nerve pain. When rubbed onto the skin via over-the-counter creams, ointments, or infused salves, it temporarily overrides and deactivates localized pain signals.

Pain Management and Nerve Relief

  • Depletes Substance P: Capsaicin actively reduces a neurotransmitter called substance P, which is responsible for sending pain and inflammation signals to the brain.
  • Arthritis Relief: Regular use significantly minimizes joint pain, swelling, and tenderness brought on by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Nerve Discomfort: The FDA supports capsaicin treatments for nerve-related issues like diabetic peripheral neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia caused by shingles.
  • Muscle Soreness: It acts as a counter-irritant on sore back muscles and deep tissue aches, exhausting local nerve endings to lower overall pain perception.

Circulation and Skin Care

  • Boosts Local Circulation: Applying capsaicin triggers vasodilation, increasing blood flow directly to the targeted area to accelerate recovery and warm cold tissue.
  • Manages Psoriasis Symptoms: Topical capsaicin formulations effectively soothe severe itchiness, minimize skin redness, and calm autoimmune-related skin inflammation.

Safe Usage and Precautions

  • Expect Initial Burning: The first few applications normally trigger a strong heat or burning sensation, which tapers off as the nerves adapt.
  • Protect Vulnerable Areas: Wear gloves during application or wash your hands immediately afterward with soap, water, or vinegar to avoid transferring the spice to your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Avoid Broken Skin: Never apply cayenne preparations to open wounds, cuts, or irritated skin barriers to prevent severe irritation

Peppermint Oil Noted Healing Abilities

Topically applied, peppermint oil provides powerful cooling, analgesic, and antimicrobial effects. Its high menthol content makes it excellent for relieving muscle aches, soothing itchy skin, and easing headaches, but it must be diluted with a carrier oil to prevent skin irritation.

Topical Benefits

  • Pain & Muscle Relief: Menthol triggers the skin's cold receptors, creating a numbing, analgesic effect that soothes joint pain, sore muscles, and tension headaches when massaged into the affected area.
  • Itch & Irritation Soothing: It provides fast relief from chronic itching, hives, or minor insect bites by cooling the skin and reducing inflammation
